ok so we went to see a live band last night...i thought that this was going to be just another chum band....not so......sooooooooooo awesome.... the name of the band was Lloyd Dobler Effect (i swear i've heard of them before, but i have no idea where) and they had more than guitars and drums...one of the members had bongos and conga drums (his name was Rusty..which was a little weird but he was safe LOL)...another had a tenor sax, an alto sax, and a flute (his name was Doug) and would alternate between the three depending on the song. then the lead guitarist (Phil) during one song took a glass bottle and did some cool shit with it against the strings of his guitar...it made a REALLY cool sound...(lol and Shannon liked it so much that she couldn't handle it and had to run outside) then him and the other guitarist (Chris) did this really cool tone with their voice Shannon says that it is called "falsetto" when they sound like girls...sooooooo cool...lol the bass guitar player was Johnny...lol he danced with a girl from the audience during one of their songs... the drummer was Donnie... they all signed a poster for me, and asked what my name was...i told them and they said "WOAH your mom has got it goin on" lol

then Renee and i wanted to chill for a bit and they were playing "after songs" (if that makes any sense, i hope you know what i'm talking about) and they had a recording of a cover they did of Paul Simon's You Can Call Me Al....sooooooo awesome...

Renee and i helped them load up their trailer, and they invited to go with them to Sheetz and a party...we turned them down because we didn't have any money...*dumbass* it doesn't take money to GO with them...lol...so we came back to Justine and Shannon's room to chill (i had made plans to stay in J&S's room b/c Kristy's bf is visiting) soon Chris and Justine had left for his room so that i could have a bed to sleep in (<3 Justine, lol, i would have slept on the floor) and soon after that, Renee left. and Shannon and i were just here...doing whatever...at about 4:30 or so, Shannon goes to brush her teeth...she comes back to the room and says "Stacie i swear to god i just saw two of the band members in the bathroom" i was like "what." so we go to look for them and we hear them talking in the RA's room...Shannon was flipping out saying 'I HAVE THE COOLEST RA EVERRR" lol...

at one point i leave the room to go to the bathroom (which is directly across from the RA's room) and Johnny pokes his head out of the door and asks why i'm not sleeping...i'm just like..."i'm not really tired"...lol he's like well i'm the only one that's not sleeping...and i tell him..."well Shannon and i aren't sleeping yet so you can hang out here for a while if you want" lol...he comes to the door wearing a towel and says "i'm only going to stay for a few minutes because i'm on my way to the shower" LOL but he ends up staying for like 45 minutes or something...we just talked about everything...he was saying where they've been touring for the week. he has a one year old son "Little John" and is in a relationship that's "so-so" right now since he's on the road so much...
we were talking about "Shannon's roommate and her boyfriend" he asks where our boyfriends are and Shannon and i just laugh and say ...they're miles away...i tell him "my boyfriend is 1000 miles away at school in Canada and her's is about 700 miles away" and he says, "well how often do you get to see him" and i say "well Christmas and summers....and he was visiting here for a week last month" and he says "wow you must have a lot of sex then when you see him" i was like..."um...yeah but it's not like it's THE reason we see each other...if i could see him for five seconds from just passing by him i'd be happy" LOL you could tell that he wanted to get some ass...it's just like....um..no i have a boyfriend. he asked "how do you deal with a long distance relationship? that's awesome that you're able to" i tell him "we do fine...all it takes is trust...and it works...and besides, if we can't take it...we DO something with our friends ...like going to a band performance... and we're fine...no point in sitting around moping about missing each other...that's boring"

i wanted to get off the topic of sex so i asked him questions about the band and stuff...whew it worked too...Johnny himself said that he became part of the band when he was looking to score some cash and he saw an ad that they needed a bass player...

finally he left though, to go to the shower, lol. he said he'd come back after and we'd hang out some more...lol but by the time he did, Shannon and i had gone to sleep and he wrote on Shannon & Justine's white board "Johnny wants to bang" LOL .....no wonder his relationship is "so-so" --his gf doesn't trust him because he "wants to bang" all the time....sucks to be him...sucks that sex is his thing that he's got going....

the band is from DC area, well most of the members are...Johnny said that he's from Brooklyn (which Renee LOVED, lol) and that Doug's from Richmond VA....another thing that Renee loved was that the lead singer (Phil) is 100% Polish...lol...Renee thought this was awesome because she's Polish too...idk if it's 100% though...but she uses that as all of her excuses "i do this because i'm Polish" LOL

lol, i'm a little excited here...they were such a good band. Melanie made a mention that she was impressed because "they listen to each other when they're playing" which was true...it was very interesting....i had a good time. during a few songs, Renee and i and Melanie and Erika got up and danced on the dance floor area place lol...we were like the only ones too...i don't what people's problem at this school is, they like to grind and shit while they're dancing, but only to stuff like rap or hip hop...sooo stupid...HELLO you are to dance when there's a live band too...*duh* i loved it...i love dancing and i loved dancing with the girls...soo much fun...Melanie and i did sort of a swing dance thing...sooo much fun....lol

so that was my night. i had a lot of fun...

i woke up this morning to go to the bathroom and the band was packing up their things to leave...they were headed to Virginia. i think it's safe to say that some of us will definitely take note if they're in this area again. they said that they signed a deal with Universal and they're hopefully going to score some radio time. te he so if you happen to hear Lloyd Dobler Effect on the radio...listen up! lol they're awesome! and so original because they're not copying every other freakin band out there.
