<lj:music>Kevin's randomness :)</lj:music>

I just wanted to give an update about our wedding plans.
So we REALLY wanted to get married at Kevin's parents home this year. However, the roof of the house sprang a leak on Christmas morning and it badly needs to be replaced, and thus will be in no condition to house a wedding, guests, food...and all the things associated with a wedding.
SO, instead, we're going to hold off for one more year on PART of it.
We are still getting married this year, on August 1 at MY parent's house, with just our immediate families because we'd already decided to get married this year and didn't want to push it back "just" another year. So, NEXT year, on August 7, we will be having the big party reception, with all our friends and extended family and whomever decides to drop by on the big day...We'll renew our vows, so there will be an actual ceremony too. The house will be in tip-top condition.

x-posted on facebook

I'm beginning to wonder if Monday snow days are going to happen for the rest of our time with the snow! Seeing as it's the second Monday in a row that there's no school!

I feel two ways about snow days...it's awesome to have a day off and sleep in!! (After checking the crawl line of course to be SURE that school is canceled...)
But then there's the part about getting behind at school. My kids have speeches due on Wednesday... I think they should be ready to hand them in, but we'll see. I always have stragglers. I doubt this speech will be an exception even though they all know they don't HAVE to present theirs, and that writing this is like any other 5-paragraph essay. I think I'm going to make the speeches still due on Wednesday because they'll have covered enough material to have completed it. AND those who WANT to present their speeches (for an extra 10 points on their quiz grade, which they all know of) will have to hand them in, be graded, make their corrections and PRACTICE so they're READY!!

The worst part, I think (so far) about teaching - grading. I want to give all A's but we all know that's not possible. And it's not fair! Not fair to the kids who actually earned it, and not fair to the kids who didn't, who need room for improvement in areas that they really didn't do well on.

I'm going back to bed...I'll deal with grading later.

(And being a pain in the ass about it.)
2. Pain in the ass co-workers too. (I know how to do my job k thnx.)
3. Wedding planning. Let's just do it already. I want to live in the moment! I hate just sitting around and talking about stuff!!
4. Lost apostrophes. (AKA PUT IN THE WRONG PLACE.) (btw, Lost Apostrophe is a good emo band name.)
5. Driving. HATE.
6. Liars

Seems there's more things that I love than I hate. Guess that's a good thing. And I'm not emo. lol :) <2

And I tag: barmaidblog, dragnblak, funf, justwalkawayren, spikesnvelvet (and anyone else who doesn't have an LJ, comment :))

Have fun!!! :)

The other day, (I think it was Saturday?) I waited on a woman by the name of SHANNON DECKER. I told her that one of my friends has that name, only her middle initial is D. NO YOU CAN'T HAVE THE SAME NAME AS MY FRIEND!

Now, I'm not sure how common Decker is as a last name, but if I get a Hochberg, de la Fuente, Gould, or a Birsa (who may or may not have initials R.E.H., J.A.D., C.L.G., or L.M.B.) in my line I'm going to freak out.

:D I love you guys....

I did a bad thing today. I skipped class for the first time since I've been at SFU. It wasn't my fault, entirely... You know how sometimes people miss the bus? Well....the bus missed me.
I was waiting for him, I waved at him TWICE (bc that's how you get them to stop, you wave at the driver, USUALLY once is sufficient). But NO he drove right by me. He stopped at the next intersection, which I tried running to, but it was icy so I wasn't quick enough for that.
I knew I wasn't going to make it down town in time for a transfer, so I decided to try to head off my connecting bus before it made the corner. THAT didn't happen either, I was like 200 feet from where I wanted/needed to be and didn't make that one either. I had a freakin mental breakdown, of a sort, it wasn't pretty...right there in the middle of downtown Bangor. I called Kevin bawling my eyes out, I woke him up.
He came to pick me up, saint that he is...he was going to let me take his car to campus so I wouldn't be late for class, but I was like, "Fuck this, I had a shitty morning and I don't feel like dealing with anything today" And I was feeling pretty shitty too, from nearly making myself sick downtown, plus lack of sleep. ugh
I emailed my professors to tell them I wasn't feeling well and wouldn't be attending class. They were pretty nice about it.
idk if it was the fucking snowbank or what...I was not happy. I'm not so little that you can't see me over a snowbank, not one that size anyway.
Kevin said, "Well, shit happens"
I said, "Well, yeah, and I'm having a pretty shitty day myself." I went back to bed.

The thing with Jake is *sorta* resolved. I did finally speak to him. He must think I'm a freakin nazi or something b/c I keep asking him to wash his dishes. When we talked earlier this week, he was pretty agreeable. But now that I've been "reminding" him etc, he's making me feel like I'm acting like a Nazi about it. Today he said, "Well jeez, what, there's a whole 5 dishes there."
(actually, there's only 2. so he doesn't even know)
He's mentioned that he does the dishes "once a week." ...With as many dishes as he uses, there's no more by the end of the week. So technically, it'd be easier on both of us if he cleaned it as he uses it.
I asked him tonight, "At least before you head to bed could you do your dishes?"
He said, "Well jeez you must not like ANY dishes to be dirty"
But...they've been there for a few days already too. I could just do them myself to get them out of the way. Which I did for the first few weeks we lived here. But it felt like he was taking advantage or something.
Jake's head is in the freakin clouds or something. His mom must have done everything for him. I've been in his house before, she had hung signs sporadically through the house as reminders. It's ridiculous. Things that you or I or KEVIN (omg a guy) wouldn't have to even THINK about needing a "prompt" for. Ahem, there was a laundry schedule..."Do this many loads on this day of the week," etc. Since he's lived here, he does it at his mother's house, every 2 weeks I think
idk where the hell he gets this thing about doing dishes once a week. It doesn't exactly work! I feel like I'm viewed as a dishes Nazi, or something. I'm just trying to live as comfortably as I can w/o being too pissed off

I tried making biscuits, to go with dinner. They'd make great baseballs. I didn't even put them in for that long! Nope, too hard.
I made banana bread though!!! It turned out ok, I think. It burnt on the bottom but it shouldn't be too bad. I was going to have some for breakfast.
(I was making the biscuits to go with the chili I'd put in the crock pot this morning) Ha, they weren't even supposed to be biscuits, I was going to try to make bread bowls. That didn't quite happen either. The dough was NOT rising! I tried everything. I even called Bubbs for some grandmother-style tips. Even HER tips failed me.

stupid bus, dumbass roommate, stupid bread issues

Glad we cleared that up.
b) I don't HAVE to wear anything. I will be choosing what I wear at my wedding. Ahem, a skirt and a top. It'll be nice, and SIMPLE, and what I want to wear.
c) There will be a bazillion flowers. Only I won't have to spend umpteen amounts $$ on them, because they'll already be there. Planted, in the ground, and not going anywhere even after the ceremony.
d) It WILL be the best day of my life. I WILL remember it forever, I just don't need a gigantic dress in order to remember it. Seriously, picture little me in a huge poofy dress? You wouldn't be able to see me!
e) I don't expect it to be absolutely perfect. To me, "perfect" isn't "natural." And the thing I most want at/in/for (I can add more prepositions if you like) my wedding is for it to be "natural."

Sorry for the rant. I'm not targeting anyone in particular who reads my LJ. Just listing what I've had from people at work. :)

I made a new friend. *does happy dance*
Seriously, I'm so happy I could almost cry. I like having new friends :) Lame, I know, to get excited about something so small. BUT really, for all the time I've lived here...it's not that small. I've put probably *too* much effort into it... and when I decided to give up, it all happens! YAY friend!!! <2 wheeee friend

I'm a dork. But that's ok :) I enjoy being a dork most days. :P

Is it wrong to hate my car?
...Ok so my brakes are totally and completely, 100% FUCKED. Professional garages like Meineke won't even work on the car. I took the car there yesterday, on my way to work at 12. I asked them to call me if anything happens, good/bad/ok/fixable etc. I didn't hear from them AT ALL so when I took lunch at 3, I called. They told me that the car isn't street safe and wondered who put an inspection sticker on it in the first place

***I could pay numerous fines for this if I get caught by the wrong person***

They said in order to fix it, they need to replace all the brake lines, the whole brakes, and *then* fill it up with brake fluid. And they said "since your car's worth only a couple hundred bucks anyway, it wouldn't be worth it to dump all that money into it to fix it." I asked him if there's anything he can do to get me through the weekend or to the end of the month and whatnot. He said that he could top off the brake fluid but it's going to leak out every time I step on the brake. I asked how much is that going to cost. he said it wouldn't cost anything. Ok...
So I asked if he could do that and bring it up the road to Marden's where I work (where he dropped me off since I had to leave the car there). He said "Yeah, we can have someone bring it up for you."
That all happened at 3:00. By 5:45 (mind you, they close at 6..) they still hadn't shown up with my car...so I'm like wtf and called them again. Again they said they'd have someone bring it to me. An hour goes by and I still don't have my car. I'm like *FUCK* ...Katie from work agrees to give me a ride to Meineke to see if at least the car is there, possibly with the keys in it...
It's at least 8:15 by the time we get out of the store...and there's my car sitting at Meineke. Driver's window down, keys in the ignition. And a piece of paper on the seat. "Called Marden's Left Message We Will Not Drive."
YEAH. um...ok. THEY did NOT call ME. The only "Message" they gave me was that they'd top it off with brake fluid and bring it up to Marden's. They specifically said that someone would bring it up. Yes, I do understand that the car isn't safe for the road. What am I supposed to do, leave it there at the freaking garage??? No...I need to at least be able to park it at my house, yeah? Fuckers!!!

P.S. I hate my car...
